PART 2:
Higher Perspective Series.
There is a lot that the Midwest and small towns get wrong, but there's also a lot that the Midwest and small towns get really, really right.
And one of them is being a good neighbor.
Generosity.
Openness.
Trustedness.
Unspoken respect.
It's community.
It's being there for your people.
Knowing who your people are and being relentless in supporting them, guiding them, being there for them.
That is something that I was reminded about when I spent time back home in the Midwest last year.
I actually found the more generous I became, it was painfully aware.
I became painfully aware of how stingy other people are.
We are living in a world of stingy, hyper-independent — only focused on me — society and culture. Me. Me. Me.
not Us. Us. Us.
And that won't get you very far (in the long-run).
Oh — I also totally took one from the Chris Fetzer playbook and baked a Peach Crisp (from fellow Portuguese neighbor’s ripe peaches, straight from their tree) and shared it with others yesterday. I must admit, it feels way better to make something from scratch for others to enjoy rather than make something for party of one.

Generosity tastes better than it looks.
Bake a pie and share it with others. See how it tastes? Probably better than you’d imagine.
See you tomorrow for Part 3: higher-self forgiveness.
Ciao for now,
M
